Been looking to get into the game as i'm a major hockey nut but have absolutely no skating skill. Main problem has been trying to find a club in the Essex region with the main national websites apparently down and dead.

I've played grassball. Basically two goals at the ends of the pitch and the teams off 11 players each try to kick the ball into these goals past the goaltender who is allowed to use his hands but your not allowed to use your hands. There is also a ref and each team are allowed are set amount of substitutes

I'm Swedish, so of course I've played floorball Quit playing a few years back though. IIRC it's the second biggest sport here in terms of participation, and due to being such a young sport it is (Or was) the fastest growing one as well.

so ice hockey without the ice played indoors - i make that indoor hockey
Well it's not ice hockey without the ice played indoors. Quite a lot of differences, even if it may not seem that way to someone who doesn't know both games. It'd be a bit like calling American Football "Rugby with pads".

As for Unihoc, I think that's the "PE version" of floorball. Tiny goals, smaller playing field, useless sticks etc. Bit like when playing football with your mates in your back yard. It both is and isn't the same as the real thing. And yes, Unihoc is the name of the first/biggest brand of sticks.

Pfft, should be well known that going on a field with a bunch of girls with large sticks is perhaps the bravest/dumbest thing a guy in school can do. Unihoc only loses out to field hockey in the ratings to that extent.
