If you are disgruntled when you are unhappy and disappointed, does this mean when you are content you are positively 'gruntled'?

The dis in disgruntled means 'completely', not 'opposite of'. Gruntled is an old word meaning grumbling. Gruntled today ,however, has been back-formed from disgruntled and means to put in good humour, or to cheer someone up.

Would it be a possibility that these words are derived from Latin (or other languages) and only the "negative" form made it into the English language while their antonyms still exist in Latin (or other languages)? And indeed in some cases the "positive" form has just fallen out of use.
