Evil Gradient Challenge #2

I was dinking around the other day and was in need some some specific gradients based on the full spectrum and luminosity. When I got the gradients that I needed, it occurred to me that it would make for a good "evil gradient challenge".

Start with something very colourful. This is just the full spectrum left/right with luminosity up/down. Should be pretty easy to see the jagged line across the center.

Use whatever to derive a linear gradient and a mirrored gradient.

The target gradients.

- I did not use Displace one bit
- Both derived directly from the colourfal graphic
- A series of ChOps for one of them
- Selective Colour for the other one
- All stock tools; I did not 'cheat' this time, but don't let that stop you from trying

Enjoy

Here is a big hint for how I did the linear gradient:

Owww... you hurt my brain.... [:I

Pretty interesting stuff. I can't follow more than 50% of it; but, it's cool.

So you displaced two channels of a linear and a reflected gradient?

In the first post there is a colourful graphic attached.
Using that graphic, I derived the two greyscale gradients in the second post.

I did not use Displace to derive either of them.
I did post a link with Displace in it, but there is another trick in there that I used to get one of the gradients.

Massive Hint for one of the gradients:
Extract Saturation

I know some of you folks know how to do that.

Yeah, me too. [confused]
I'm reading all your "technical slop", and having to keep re-reading to understand it all. It's cool stuff, but heavy on the techno babel. [stuned]
