yeah they wouldnt give me my mac code until i had finished my 12 month contract. every single time i rang up they kept saying a system error had occured and that it was impossible to generate one. this was over a 2 month period.

Thats a totally different matter then, but they can't use it to withhold a MAC code from him. If his still got some months left on his contract he'll have to settle that anyways whether he moves to another ISP.

| You should have complained to OFCOM, they are not allowed to do that. Yes, you would have had to pay up the remainder of your contract but they shouldn't have denied you a MAC code.

Threatening them with ofcom should be enough. They know they're in the wrong and are trying it on with you

thats what they are wanting me to do, but as it was them that cancelled the contract why should i have to pay?

Technically they cancelled your contract as you breached their contract by downloading too much, so yeah i would think they can but not 100% sure
