I don't understand why parents buy cars for their kids. It seems to be becoming quite common.
B0llocks to that... earning you first sh!t heap is part of the journey of life.

My first job was £13,500 4 years ago. Bought a £9000 car out of that pretty much by myself. My Mum & Dad put a £500 deposit down for my 21st bday.

Paying for lessons is ok. I can just about stretch to parents buying their kids a clapped out old fiesta (maybe).
It's when you see spoilt little brats driving 2004 plate Golfs that it annoys me.
I'll be a very strict parent... no spoiling from me. |

Wp qwerty.
So is 18k a good salary for an IT Support technician? What about if you chuck in free lunches, 8-5 working day with 2hrs worth of breaks, 9-3 in the school holidays and five weeks holiday? Oh and a laptop?

| Well i just wouldnt be able to get to my job with out moving, which i cant afford as i literaly had 100 pounds (i'm on a crappy american keyboard with no pound sign ) left in the bank account so I couldnt afford it.
Besides I have to pay very high rent whilst living at home, so effectively paying it back anyway
I got a T-Reg Clio btw

Hey - it might just be a sign of the times in terms of the difficulties new employees have these days.
I'm just in a moaning mood thanks to the whinge thread this afternoon. |

£18k for a first job is pretty awesome. Save £500 a month and in 2 years you'll have enough for a deposit on a parking space in the suburbs of London
My 1st job paid about £12.5k in 1991. Was a contract so was getting paid weekly. Cash was coming in quicker than I could spend it. Bought my first car with that. Lovely!
