i dont get how this is that amazing of a decision.

On that calculator a 12k a year job takes you home something like £836 a month, £1150-£311 is £839 hardly worth it? I understand the oppurtunity and that, but it sounds like a pretty standard role?

Should imagine it will be easier for him to get another role in the same type of vacancy either closer to home or on more money once he's got the job and getting some experience in it though.

I dont want to be awful but dead end jobs like the one you were/are in are ten a penny. You could walk into another dead end job that pays £11.5k a year easily so what was there to think about?

And this job costs you £5k in travel, so what. Get a bit of experience in the job and move to somehwere where you arent paying a fortune out in travel expenses.
