Default Minor Keyboard Problem
I have a dell inspiron 630m laptop.

Keyboard playing up, shift 3, i.e. pound sign now comes up with a hash sign. the hash symbol comes up with backslash.... any ideas?

Start - settings - control panel - regional and language options - languages tab - button 'details' - delete all keyboards there that you're not using.

I think the default key combo for switching input languages is left alt + shift, a very easy combo to press by mistake.
