Default Mouse recommendations?

My tried and trusty trackball seems to be coming towards the end of it's natural life (five years service from him), so thought it was about time to look at getting a new one. However, none appeal, so decided to get a mouse instead. However, the choice is a bit overwhelming.

The Razer Deathadder and the Logitech G5 seem to be the pick of a very large bunch of mice I've considered. Wired is a personal preference, especially in gaming, as is extra configurable buttons.

So folks, what are you all using? What do you reccomend, and what should I avoid?

G5, Razer Copperhead and MS Habu all good choices if you want a decent gaming mouse

I've got a standard Dell Optical mouse.

Pretty much alright for sitting on my bed with my laptop. I managed to knacker up the USB plug on the end so it's now in at an angle but it still works.

Make sure it's optical though, I can't stand rollerballs at school.

Always found wireless to be a little slower than wired, and a pain in the arse for battery consumption.

Looks like a flip of the coin between the two I mentioned than. Had considered the Habu but read of folks having problems with it's driver. The deathadder and G5 seem to be almost complaint free, and constantly top mouse comparison tables.

Yeah wireless a bit rubbish tbh.

I bought this which I got with a S&S steelpad for like £15, is fb too.

Saying that though I think Logitech stopped making them with the G5 being the newer model as it were.

I've got a wireless optical from the Aldi for €15/£10. Working great for over a year now. Cradles in its own charger, too.
