I'm the black sheep in the family. I seldom goto Christenings, Funerals, etc. I goto Funerals if I was close to the person but I don't like going somewhere for the sake of it.

I attend the Christmas parties and whatever but there's not really anybody in my age range.. the closest is my sister who is two years younger so I'm kinda confined to drinking out back and texting on my phone but aslong as I show my face I guess I've pleased the family.

All the rest of my family are quite chummy though, my cousins are quite young so my family give them alot of fuss. Nice atmosphere in all.

I don't fit in with my family

I've been living by myself since I was 12 and everytime I'm back home (for holidays) I stay in my room for a long time and only comes out to get food/drinks. That stopped after my dad got me a refrigerator.

Once, I was sick real bad and couldn't get out of bed. I went without food and drinks for 2 days as nobody knew I was sick and I couldn't get out of the room.

My mum's considered this. But the concern is that since he's gone to such obvious lengths to not be contacted, how would he feel if we did find him? My mum's not moved, and I have the same mobile number still, so if he wants to contact us he can.

It's not like he died, at least not back then, anyway. He actively disappeared - Left his job, sold his house, disconnected his phone. If he'd died then someone at his old house or old job would have known.

Good idea, but already tried that. The problem is threefold:
- He has quite a common full name
- There seem to be a good few semi-famous people with exactly the same name
- Even if I add "Newcastle" into the search, he has the exact same name as a local newspaper editor so I just get matches for every article that paper has ever churned out in the last decade.

I always thought my family was weird with my nazi grandfather and my 20-buns-a-meal uncle, but after reading some of the posts in here they seem more normal to me know.
