Need a new Hard drive: whats the difference between SATA II and PATA
So my Hard drive failed yesterday and i am looking to get a new one, from what i have seen there are 2 different types SATA II and PATA.
Whats the dirrerence between them and does it matter which type i buy?

SATA is the newer version, and yes it does matter.

Sata is the new, small version, it uses special SATA power cables and SATA data cables.
PATA, aka IDE, is the old version with BIG thick cables, which use regular Molex power connectors.

SATA is so much faster but they need to be set up properly as i found out /o\
