My laptop is currently with them for the 6th time and still shows no sign of being fixed.

Saw an article on theRegister about PCWorld refusing to replace a laptop bag that ripped that a bloke used to carry his iBook around because it wasnt Mac compatable ffs

On another note, never buy anything from WH Smith either. Their ink cartridges may sound sexy at buy one get one half price, but when then charge ten pounds more than Sainsburys anyway, it just ain't worth it. Also helped that the lady at Sainsburys is infinitely more fitter than any working at Smiths.
What do you do for a living again Gav?

two PC World staff members once gave me completely conflicting advice when I enquired about wireless routers, which was a special effort

Well this has really put me off going to PC world. Thanks for the heads up, and good luck in sorting all this out.

By the way out of interest, is This a good system for the price? Or could you get better from somewhere else?

ive found its a bit hit and miss with PC World. I refuse to go to the one in Tottenham Hale on the account of all the staff being grade A ****wits - from the shop floor to the computer technicians to management. On the otherhand their Edmonton branch is quite good or at least the computer technicians are. Lakeside retail park store isnt the worst in the world. To save hassle i would avoid them in general though.

Won't go to PC World, but might be happy to buy from Tesco ?

fwiw, i would like to say i managed to get it sorted to day mercifully. Indeed, "Luke" fr5om the tech dept at Kidderminster store you were a star, and a amazingly really helpful. Turns out the store and the HFC got in a muddle over the finance deal - now sorted, phew! And whilst my computer was totally knackered I got a different make sorted instead, albeit it's a bit slower, but it's a slimline one so is much more amenable to smallish quarters

dual core processor, 1.6Ghz, average speed I guess but plenty for what I need, 250GB hard disk, 1024 ram, ample for student life I think.

A few qu's tho whilst im here, annoyingly this one isn't wireless ready, so what do I need to buy to sort that and any retailers recommended - dell again? for just one part? despite sorting it out, im afraid pc world is still definitely out of bounds...

oh yeah and what should i be asking for when i want to buy a thingy to transfer data from my old deadish laptop to my new comp?

cheers, if anyone reads this
