Either way is fine, just make sure you have a nice belt when you tuck in.
When wearing a vest, i tend to have my shirt out. Just a shirt on it's on, i tuck it in.

I'd never tuck it in wearing jeans. But then, I never wear a proper shirt or normal jeans on a night out unless I'm being dragged to chavvy clubs anyway.
