The disease is regarded as incurable (although allogeneic stem cell transplanation may be curative, the mortality from the procedure is too high to be a first line option). The exception is localised disease, which can be cured by local irradiation. The typical pattern is one of good responses from treatment, followed by relapses some years later. Median survival is around 10 years, but the range is wide, from less than one year, to more than 20 years. Some patients may never need treatment.

I've bolded the correct bit for you, as that's what you've got.
And anyone would be concerned in your shoes, especially when you get bombarded by reams and reams of information telling you what your survival chances are etc.

That's what I do best, pick the sole canary from a nest full of crows if you get my meaning. Discard all the positive for the negative. I do realise sooner rather than later I'm going to have to pull myself together if not for me, then for my kids and wife. I suppose it's all about acceptance at this stage as I still find myself in denial until I look at the excision site, even then it still doesn't really sink in. It's like it's happening to someone else and these things only happen to other people, not me.
You've been a tremendous help thus far, mark and without your help I'd have been a complete and utter shambles.

No problem mate. As i said before, i'm not a medic, and i don't have any specialist knowledge, but my e-mail's in my profile if there's anythingi can do.
One thing i would say is that while it's OK initially getting info from websites, the info there is very general, and often very statistical. As everyones treatment regime and prognosis is different, it's very important to make sure you get the specific information on your particular case from your doctor.
The other thing i'd say is that for a lot of people, getting counselling and/or joining a support group can help a lot. Lots of people get a sense of isolation when they first get diagnosed, and talking it out, possibly with people who have or have had a similar disease can help a lot. You may not think it's for you, but i'd recommend at least seeking one out and trying it for a litle while. Your care team should be able to get you in touch with one, and if not the cancerbackup site i linked to earlier would probably be able to help.
