I read the Samuel article in the Times and while I thought his use of the £4 million pumped into that tournament was a bit of a dappy reason for not releasing transfer funds, I would say the article was focused on the lack of experience Grant has in top flight football.

i was very general and ignored a lot of factors but there was some seriousness in what i said. If true, nobody deserves to be the subject of racial or anti semetic abuse and it is good to see the chelsea chairman come out and say that it wont be tolerated. I can obviously see why he isnt liked, but getting on his back wont help the situation. As i said the racism part (again if true) is inexcuseable from those chelsea fans who were doing it.

A bloke rang up 606 yesterday and suggested that the reason that Grant was appointed was because Abramovich had had enough of using translators and as Abramovich is Jewish, he can speak Hebrew and can therefore talk to Grant directly. I don't know if Abramovich can speak Hebrew but I'm pretty sure the caller only thought he could because he's Jewish. The call wasn't openly anti-semitic but there was an underlying tone that I would refer to as 'verging on' anti-semitism.

As it happens, I do think that the criticism of Grant in the press comes from the fact that he's only ever managed in Israel, but people are using that against him because Israel is a crap football nation, not because there's an immense hatred of jews in the British press.

Can you imagine if Roman took a leaf out of Mandaric's book and invited all the haters round.

He'd have like 18,000 compared to the 80 who went to the Walkers Stadium.
