Default need sloppy border plugin.

hi, gang. i used to have a plugin which left the photo with a sloppy, raggedy, wonderful border. i have a new comp and couldn't transfer it here. it looked like the edges were drawn with a dry brush. any help will be appreciated. thanks, boyd.

AutoFX Photographic Edges... that's what you're looking for: http://www.autofx.com/pge_6/pge_6.html :B

I think that some of AutoFX effects are more clever but another long time edge effect plugin is PhotoFrame.

http://www.extensis.com/en/products/...=en_US&id=1022

"Extensis PhotoFrame lets you interactively design stunning border and edge effects in Photoshop. Comes with over 2000 professionally designed frames, including two new volumes."

I've got both of those pkgs and they are nice to have. Well worth the price(s) I paid for them.

Aaaah Extensis PhotoFrame THAT'S the one i was trying to think of. I had that yeeeears ago. I liked it because it runs much faster than the AutoFX plugins.

Do you have Illustrator? (If you don't, you should because Illustrator and photoshop, together, are like peanutbutter and jelly.) Illustrator has some great brushes for borders. You can C&P them into Photoshop or Import your image from PS into Ill. and add the borders. I personally have un-installed all of my 3rd party plug-in. Once I mastered Illy. I really didn't need the plugs anymore. I'll do an example and post it

I'm back, it's been 10 min and here's a sample of an illustrator border
(1 of thousands of combos) I cpoied this sample into photoshop and used it 'as is', I could have converted it to a brush and applied a myriad of effects

Default need sloppy border plugin.

thank all of you. i really appreciate your help. i didn't want to buy plugins, so i went to some sites which have examples of polaroid edges. then i removed the color and saved them. i simply add one of them to a photo, click edit/clear and i have it. this may help someone else. again, thanks, boyd.

Plugins can add up to some big bucks...
I use PS filters to make frames...
Grab a picture you want to frame.
Duplicate the layer.
add a mask by clicking the icon under the layer pallet (add layer mask) (I think it's the second from the left, if not the square with a circle in it)
Now with the black brush draw a squiggly square around your picture, it should disapear as you draw (remeber its a mask)
Now go to the filters try them all they make very nice frames.
If you make the original frame with a scatter brush the frame then filter its amazing.
All the plugins work on this exact principle...just need to learn how PS does it.
The attached picture has a color halftone filter added to it just as an example.
Good luck,
Lasa

Sloppy boaders...make an empty layer above the picture.
grab a brush with some texture.
While on the top empty layer, make a strokes framing the picture below. Then play with the filters...
Done..
