Having moved into a new flat we're wanting to set up a phone line and broadband. It seems sensible to go for a company that offers both to take advantage of a bundle offer.
The list so far:
BT - £23.49 per month in total. Probably more reliable. Can get a BT wireless hub for £30.
Virgin - £15.50 per month in total. Perhaps less reliable. Would have to buy a wireless router separately I think.
Sky - No. Broadband only available to TV subsribers, which we don't want.
Orange - No. Might have some cheap deals but the gf has had no end of trouble with them, so they can fo.
Any other companies I should be thinking of?
And FOA of Virgin customers: would Virgin need a BT line to be connected already? I've beed browsing their site but can't find out either way. (Would phone, but I'm at work).
Had alot of trouble with Virgin, with their service being less than useless. We ended up not even starting our contract and took up BT instead - which is more expensive but very reliable.
YMMV naturally, and you need to take into account how near you are to the exchange. Also, on BT, they seem to throttle usage on sunday afternoons. Other than that, it's great.
