Any time I have time off work I stop shaving and grow a beard for a week or so but couldn't do it long term.
Too itchy.

Best thing to do to help with the itching is to shampoo your stubble/beard when you are washing your hair. It works and minimises any discomfort.

I've not actually shaved since 2004. I don't actually need to, however, because my facial hair is fairly limited. But I do notice itching every 2, 3 weeks after trimming - and yeah, I also go ginger when it gets too long.

I too have recently taken up the art of wearing a beard, its coming along nicely, a bit patchy in places though.
It seems the itching stops after a while.

The itching will pass after a few days/weeks depending on how heavy your growth is. I trim my beard and with the shampoo trick, it doesn't really itch too much. Tend to trim it every couple of weeks.
Nevermind ginger hairs - I've got grey/white ones ! :thdn:

I must have seen 5 threads about beards/shavers/facial hair in 18 months, so its a hot topic?
So, for me, my stubble grows back really quick, too quick tbh, and I hate shaving. Trouble is, after 3-4 days, my stubble itches as its too long.

Just shaved mine off seconds ago. Shame, had I seen this thread first I may have had the inspiration to keep it going.
