Would the Human race be able to come together to attempt to fight them off?
Or would we just fight and squabble between ourselves about who should lead the fight ect and get obliterated

Can't help but think of global warming. instead of coming together and fighting off the threat to everyone there's just a lot of 'squabbling between ourselves'. Quite similar to an alien invasion, but a bit slower.

I would hope that an Alien race that has been able to become so technologically advanced as to be able to make mass space travel a realistic situation would have developed sufficiently culturally so as that war would not be an option.
