Chelsea captain John Terry will start the game despite having surgery on a broken cheekbome.
Terry will wear a protective mask on the injury, but his England colleague Frank Lampard is still ruled out with a thigh problem.
Fellow midfielder Michael Essien took part in training on Tuesday and is also expected to feature despite suffering from a torn calf muscle.
Valencia have keeper Santiago Canizares and defender Carlos Marchena fit.
There's quite an interesting article on our 6 month slide since our last game against Valencia, an English team beating them for the first time in 40 years at the Mestella.
We can't afford to lose this game, or even draw it really given that we should be topping this group and are already playing catch up on Valencia. Although a draw here and a win at Stamford Bridge would be good, but can't look that far ahead yet.
Absolutely no excuse for not putting out the strongest team possible and I've read that Riccardo Carvalho is back, not sure about that though.

Is what I'm looking for, with Mikel playing the Makelele role. Makelele playing tonight would be a disaster imo.
So lets continue my run of starting match threads for awful performances, ignoring our slight blip against Hull as I'm sure we'll get over that in no time.
Terry  Hero.

3-0 Valencia. Vicente, Angulo and Albelda. More chants for Jose Mourinho please.
Is vicente fit? </BLOCKQUOTE>
Vicente has been back in training (gym work mainly) and so won't play. It will be Silva and JoaquĆ*n down the flanks.
Also maybe CaƱizares, won't be ready so Timo Hildebrand might play.
JoaquĆ*n has been playing well of lare so hopefully he can continue this tonight
