So lets say theoretically i have a large amount of credit on my credit card. About £300.

Will i be charged for having such a large credit. I know there was something in the news about this a while ago.

I have a barclay card but cant seem to see anything on their website

Not that I know of. Can't see why they'd penalise you for having it in credit. I've had that a couple of times and not had anything adverse happen to me.

sure i heard a while ago that its the credit card companies way of getting back for the credit tarts and all the charge claims. Having a card in credit or not using it enough was being touted as attracting charges

I think "tarts" find it harder to get a new card. Not sure how a company would penalise you for having a card in credit though.

my dad keeps a halifax card in credit for emergencies, so i dont think theres any adverse effects

basically i won some money on a bingo website and was just wondering if there was a way of them getting money out of me


I just checked back of statement and only charges are late payment, going over credit limit and late payments

was wondering if there was some perverse way of them calling this a cash transaction or whatever

Only way you are losing out really is by not earning any interest on it.

Better off contacting bank and getting them to send you a cheque for the £300.

I was in the same position through some large betting wins a while back, couldn't get Barclaycard to refund the credit without closing the account. So I just used it for what it was: actual real credit. Switched all my spending to the Barclaycard for a couple of months, so that I wasn't having to spend any "real" money. Hey presto, your actual bank account will be £300 better off.
