Awesome is the right term for 9/11. Felt more like a spectator sport than a real event.

The fact that the immediate answer to the 'WTF is going to happen next!!!!' question was 'bugger all' was a disappointment.

Seem to remember the football being cancelled when Diana died.

Was gutted as it we were all celebrating my birthday which was happening that weekend and everyone was coming round to watch it.

Apart from that, I'm never overly affected by these things. Always told myself after every news report that I would donate to the Tsunami fund, but naturally never did get around to it. Unless I did and then forgot about it, can't really remember which. I usually just have a sense of awe at massive things like 9/11, the Tsunami etc.

9/11 was an event I'll never forget as I saw it unfold on TV. Hillsbrough as well is something I'll remember, despite being 15/16 at the time. I remember the sombre mood at Newcastle's next home game after that. The fences that had been up to keep fans in, had all been torn down.

I remember when the Tsunami happened there was huge support towards funding and it got to the point where you were seen as a bit of a twat if you didn’t make a donation (seem to recall there being a thread on here asking how much people had given).

I didn’t have nay problems with people making donations, but couldn’t agree with people practically being forced to give something. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Yeah that seems a bit OTT. Dont know whether i would have donated had i not had the connection with where it was, havent really donated much else other than the odd Children in Need.

When the towers came down, I reckoned there must be about 20,000 people in and around them.

Of course, I was unaware at the time that all the jews had sneakily stayed home so there were only 3,000.

To clarify I do remember most of these events, I just wasn't 'affected' in any way.

Well apart from Diana because it was my birthday and it ruined the TV schedule for that day :thdn:

Yes Awesome is very good word to desribe 9/11. It was literally like watching a disaster movie.... took days for the enormity of it to actually settle into my brain :o

Hillsborough is probably the one that really winds me up. Being a Liverpool fan and just 10 years old at the time i have vivid memories of that day and some of the crap that came after it defied belief. Also the fact that no person or organisation were held to account for it. But thats a debate for another time

Jamie Bulger story did.

None of the events mentioned did though. I think I've become more unemotional as years have gone by.
