A lot cheaper than the equivalent sized TV tbh. Less than a grand for a 100" HD picture sounds nice to me.

Go for it. People do use projector tvs (we've had a 70" one for over a decade - obv not hd though). They're not that expensive either, although I'm not up to date on the latest technology.

You can get plenty of 720p projectors for less than 800 quid or less, the 1080p ones are the ones you'll be spending a grand on.

We bought a projector a few years back for £300 or something in that region, works perfectly fine and magically supports HD resolutions even though the specifications say it doesn't support them. Spent some money on a proper screen for it and it needed a new bulb earlier this year for around £150 but it's still worked out much cheaper than a TV half the size of the screen we've ended up with.

My mate has an HD projector and it does look good, but my lcd hdtv looks better i think
