More than 3,000 stuck in SA mine

More than 3,000 workers are trapped deep underground in a South African gold mine after an accident blocked a deep shaft, officials have said.
The 2.2km (1.4mile) shaft was blocked near the bottom, trapping the workers.

Rescuers are trying to use an adjacent shaft to rescue the miners, a spokeswoman for the mine's owner, Harmony Gold Mining, said.

The accident happened at about 0800 GMT and there has been no communication with the miners since then, she said.

trapped down a mine probably one of the worst ways to die, must be horrific having that many of you down there all knowing the chance are you aren't getting out of there

3000 people is a lot of oxygen too.
and considering no contact since it happened...although the time shows as 0800 GMT which is a little confusing.

I would like to think if that many people are trapped then there must be plenty of supplies for them
