Ya know the best way I find to do something like this - ad/poster/advertisement - is to go through magazines and find something to copy. Not copy exactly, but to find ideas, layouts, designs, get inspired. Being original is a LOT of work.

i couldnt see your images sorry but:

anything in aportfolio is better then nothing.......

my companies portfolio is at www.graphikill.com/portfolio.pdf

now theres stuff in there that i am proud of, but theres also a lot of stuff in there i am not, but that doesnt mean that others wont like it.....

as a graphic designer i find it hard to make a client understand real graphic design aposed to mass media styles...

but it is good to experiment

p.s i see your images now! 8D

there okay , very corporate....... if you want a job in graphic design for print, i would maybe ring a printers up and ask what they have trouble printing from certain programs....

for instance indesign for a printers is a brilliant product , but most plates dont give a good drop shadow from indesign but do from quark! wierd i know but its good to know for when you start a project and when you having an interview......

i would do as patric says, look at teh best desige houses portfolios and see what they are up to...

a couple of starting points would be:

whos we studios
we work for them
Parque Creative
and of course graphikill.com (me lol)

see what the are upto there usually a good referance for ideas.....

what i look for in a portfolio when interviewing people is:

that they set themselves a guide line for the portfolio as to what they want it to show.
personal, corporate, experimantal or plain and simple.

seperate it into sections if your going to put everything in.

interviewers have to remembers its a pretty boring job as a graphic designer if you cant put your own input into your work, so tey do like to see some flare, but th type they can get a cross to a client, not to a art studio.

good luck with your portfolio
