Pretty shocking imo.
| not really. there'll be a million and one stories in the news today in which people actually suffer, as opposed to people who are financially comfortable not getting a windfall

So you'd be happy if you were forced to sell your family home and all the contents?
Photos, family memorabilia, presents you gave to your parents etc etc.

She mentioned that she only came back 20 years ago when they were old. Not sure how old the dad was when he died but the mam was in her late nineties. tbh, aren't wills normally kept with a solicitor anyway?

The key is in this part: Quote:
On Wednesday she told how she started work at the age of 13, driving tractors and picking potatoes.
After leaving for university, Dr Gill would return at weekends and during holidays to help.
She and her husband, Andrew, even bought an adjoining property in 1986 near the village of Potto, in North Yorkshire.
When her father, John, died in 1999, she had to look after her mother, Joyce, who suffered from a range of phobias and would not leave the house.
| It's not clear how much she looked after her mother... and really, any kid brought up on a farm would be made to work on it once they were old enough surely? She's quite specific though about what she did on the farm - which makes me think it wasn't a lot.
If she wasn't that close to her mother then why buy the property next door... unless she was anticipating inheriting her parents' property even that far back.

I'm sure there's some famous quote about assumption being the blah blah blah but I can't remember it.

Who says anyone cares? Neil has raised a debating point... we're debating it. I don't see how 'caring' comes into it.

Oh I see - you're bothered about the fact that people are discussing something while there are poor starving people in Africa?
Excuse me while I vomit.

| i doubt somehow the rspca are going to nick their family photos, unless somehow they can use the photos to give badgers a home or something. and again, there are a million and one worse things happening
