Gordon Brown has been accused of "cynical pre-election politics" over his visit to British forces in Iraq.
Shadow defence secretary Liam Fox said Mr Brown preferred a photo opportunity in Basra to keeping his promise to tell MPs first about planned troop cuts.
He said the PM used the armed forces as a "political football". Sir John Major also questioned the timing of the announcement and Mr Brown's visit.
The tories make me laugh. Why should brown wait until the conference is over for this announcement.
So you think its appropriate to use this country's armed forces just to improve the political fortunes of one this country's political parties, and a ***** bunch of lying, spin-hungry, tax-obsessed tarts at that, who have spent much of the last ten years slashing funding to said armed forces?
Liam Fox is using the armed forces as a polical tool just as much, if not more, than Brown. Accusing Labour politicians of 'spin' etc is just lazy shorthand used by opposition members unable to come up with any kind of decent argument.
