the EU treaty thing, i personally believe we shouldn't have a referendum on, for the simple reason theres too many people in this country that vote on what the red top papers tell them to. when brown says "i will do what is best for the country" then we should leave decisions up to the best advisor's, people who know what their doing. i would rather they decided than a guy who just wants a crown on his pint glass..

what a load of balls. there have been surveys done that show most people who read tabloids dont believe what they read. i cant find the specific survey im thinking of (i think it was a glasgow uni media group one) but
this yougov survey (sorry, pdf) clearly shows that tabloid journalism is one of the least trusted professions in britain.
if the eu constitution/treaty is so wonderful the government should be able to convince the electorate. however i think the reason they wont do that is because a lot of people realise that the eu in its current form is another layer of unaccountable bureaucracy, seen as a last big payday for dodgy politicians (mandleson) which is rife with corruption. power should be decentralised, not consolidated in brussels/strasbourg out of the public eye where no one has much of an idea of what is happening. i bet most people dont even know who their local mep is.
is it just with issues regarding the eu that you think the uneducated dribbling morons who make up the population of this country shouldnt have a say? or are there other areas where you think its too dangerous for the public to vote on, lest they inexplicably vote against what the ruling party of the day wants?
