I was speaking of relatively non-corrupt and democratic states, tbh.
The US are different that way. Rather fanatical, even. Must have something to do with the fact that lots of immigrants/founders were people who fled/were kicked out of Europe because of religious grounds, I suppose.
</BLOCKQUOTE>
And yet we don't spend government money on religious activity.
Unless you want to count Bush's faith-based welfare. Which barely counts. Quote: |
Another angle: many claim to be religious, because it's the thing to be. If many really are religious, seems doubtful. They certainly don't live the alledged religious values.
| That I could go along with.

| Sorry to burst your bubble DJ, but christianity is known to grow the fastest where the persecution is the hardest.
Maybe the cutting of subsidies is just what the Dutch christians need to focus again.
As christian rapper T.R.U.T.H. puts it:
heathens were glad to hate us, heated like radiators
they stripped us naked, enslaved us and made us gladiators
branded with nasty labels, christians were bad for business
thrown in the prison, the Roman officials gladly made us
public spectacles, they tied us to chariots
burned up our flesh, the Romans thought that was hilarious
times were perilous, they scattered us, into various areas
embarassed us, the catacombs; that's where they buried us
but now the heathens 'love' us, and that got me thinking
could it be that we lost every ounce of our distinction?
ah, if we have Father I pray you bring us back
to the place where we fix the eyes of our souls on Jesus
I'd say DJ, let's try to cut subsidiries and destroy religion. It might just be what we need

We're in full agreement, Dave, let's bring it on.
No more subsidies, normal tax on land/building ownership of churches, just like all other property. Application of laws against bothering other people (no more silly bimbams nor howling from minarets bothering everyone), abolition of 'special education' brainwashing of children, application of laws against discrimination based on gender (bye bye right wing reli parties)
Christian rapper ftl (for the laugh)
Going on about the martyrdom of Christianity. Aww, poor christians, so repressed throughout all of history :*(
(Well, apart from the last 1500 years that is )

| Funny you talk about laws 'against discrimination' tbh.
'Bye bye right wing reli parties?' You mean the SGP right? Not much harm in that if I'm honest.
Anyway, ofcourse I don't agree with your 'discriminerende' laws.
But if Holland somehow will fill up with DJ's and the government will ever get so ffed up in the future that they will apply your recommendations, just know that I'm ready anytime. And I'm sure there are many, many more. Quote:

Oh yeah, he raps good too. Quote:

| Well, we are. And I'm not denying a lot of 'christians' did the same thing to others sadly. Quote:

| Christians are still the most persecuted group. There still christians being martyred, stoned to death and publically executed.
But you don't read that in your Volkskrant ofcourse.
Look, DJ, even Hitler knew better than you in this case. You can't destroy religion. Not in any way.
