Potter/LOTR are good calls, as are The Matrix films, the Bourne films, Friends (and 95% of other American TV shows for that matter, hate them), 24 etc.
Also with computer games I miss a lot of the acclaimed games because they tend to be FPS/third person shooters and I hate those games. Never got in MGS either for example.

Never seen The Lion King, any of The Matrix films.
Also never listened to a Muse album despite liking that kind of music.

i can understand people who might not have read/seen certain things, but why on earth would someone be 'proud' of that fact is beyond me. seems like some people just do it for the sake of being that person who hasn't done stuff in order to gain attention

So far I'm yet to see a "Cultural Landmark" mentioned here...
LOTR and Potter will not influence a generation of film makers and authors.
Cultural Landmarks should fall into the breaking the mould category (eg Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the first Sex Pistols gig).

It seems that whenever something’s really popular there’s loads of people so eager to pint out how much they hate it (Star Wars, LOTR, the Beatles etc.).
Now I’m sure some of those people genuinely don’t like them, but some make an awful lot of noise about how much they dislike them.

Four Weddings and a Funeral a cultural landmark?
Potter is arse biscuits. All the coverage lead me to try and start reading it to see why all these adults had taken to what seemed to be quite a s**t kids story. I still don't know.
Not seeing original Star Wars nothing to be proud of.
