Just in case like. What do people reckon? Gordon's speech today was sounded a lot like an election speech, all the "I won't let you down" stuff, the listing of policies but he's blatantly just playing with Cameron and the tories. After the Conservative conference I imagine the press will be summoned to see Brown making a "big announcement" and he'll just announce some new schools policy or something.

So no, I can't see one this year. Can you?

no i dont think he will hes got too much to lose if he calls an autumn election he could be the shortest serving prime minister ever so i dont think he will

All the arguments for an election in the Spring are stronger for holding an election now, except for the weather issue that I just don't find that convincing. However, I think he'll lose his nerve and won't have an election now. Things may well look rather different in the Spring so we could not have an election for another year after that.
