We (Australia) do our elections on a Saturday and it works pretty well actually.

Speaking of which, we *should* have one announced within the next week or so.

Mon teh KEVIN07! Kevin 07

Not sure I can take seriously any national leader named Kevin.

I keep expecting him to declare that if elected he'll be a TOP DJ!

Nope, I don't. And tbh I'm not sure why in the hell I would or should think that.

I see.

We may argue this one another day. I haven't the time now. Go in peace.

I'm sure we'll have our own election thread in the near future where you can talk about kids overboard and all the other irrelevant rubbish.

If I were Brown I'd go for an election now whilst I'm still in my honeymoon period. And it saves the problem Major had in his first couple of years with people saying "but you didn't even win an election yourself".

I think Cameron was an effective foil to Blair, but is looking a bit lightweight now in comparison to Brown. Plus he still doesn't seem to have come up with much by way of substantive policies. Not that seems to matter much these days, sadly.

Brown was a bit disappointing yesterday though imo. I appreciate he wants to compete for the middle ground, and he does seem to be trying to reduce the amount of spin that is going on. Although maybe that in itself is just spin. Who knows? But he too still seems weak on actual forward-thinking policies, as opposed to Daily Mail reactionism.

The whole thing is a bit of sham though. Parliamentary democracy is less and less of a reality in Britain.
