the russian movie?
if so the sequel should be out in few weeks.
my russian housemate saw both original and english version and said the english translation is rubbish (or at least nowhere near as good as the russian version is).
also the movie is way too confusing compared to the book.

Having read the books now it's a bit of an odd translation, but still a very good film for me.

I watched this but missed the first bit. What was the basic gist of the film? Was the main bloke a vampire? And who were they giving licenses to?

Anton isn't a vampire, but hunts down "unlicensed" dark ones. Basically if you are a vampire you should be licensed, which allows the day watch to monitor your activities. Day watch is allowed to do a certain number of good acts, night watch a certain number of bad ones. Everything must be balanced.
