I saw him and thought he was pretty good, but a little too undisciplined. Not every tangent he thinks of works, and sometimes he needs to resist them. still, can be very, very funny.

Saw Jimmy Carr live last night. I was a bit disappointed with him. I've got a couple of DVDs, which are ffffb, but he seems to have made the mistake of going down the lowest common denominator route and/or just seeing how offensive he can be. Whereas when he puts his mind to it, he can be seriously, scabrously funny. It's not that I'm easily offended or anything (why would I go to his gig if I was?) but I do reckon there are other subjects for humour than paedophilia and rape. Too high a profile for him now, I reckon; a bit like Izzard around the time of his Sexie tour. Ease off the gas a bit Jimmy.

Still, I've got Russell Howard, Frankie Boyle and Mark Steel coming up in the next 10 days. I'll report back. Sheffield Comedy Festival leads to an orgy of the stuff.

Fwiw, Daniel Kitson is the best I've seen.

Tringham, you've proved once again that you know what you're talking about.

Saw the friday night show in Manchester, second time I have seen him there. Was excellent, got funnier as it went on. He did seem genuinely ****ed off with the arsey woman though.

Seeing him tomorrow night in Southend. Will be the second year running at the Cliffs i've caught his show. Great entertainment for a night, especially if someone ****es him off.

He's not actually very random. A lot of his stuff is very solidly thought-out and rehersed before the show.

Any time he goes off on a tangent to tell a story - he does it every show on that tour at some point.

It's never in the same order, but it'll be in there somewhere.

It's only the crowd interaction that's random, and as always that's the best part of his shows. </BLOCKQUOTE>

tbf that is mixing it up & Phish has a point-

Kay released 4 or 5 DVD's of the exact same show just in a different venue-may be the same jokes but at least its not "skip to 00:55:06 for the dad to the dancefloor"
