The Premier League "Anthem." Most pointless thing ever? (after a match-thread for a game not on TV ofc)
...what exactly is the point of the damn thing? Even if we ignore the fact that it sounds absolutely atrocious despite two attempts at making one up, what purpose does it serve? Disrupts the match start pattern (nostalgia of ye olde days of Everton running out to Z-cars and the captain/keeper absolutely leathering the ball in his hand towards the Gladwys Street whilst at full pelt with the rest of the team behind) and unlike the CL music isn't used for TV intros (a la ITVs coverage for example.)
Just about the only reasons I can come up with are;
(a) For this "shake other teams hand whilst standing like gimps in a line" malarkey that's become popular. I don't want them to be friendly ffs, I want them to break each others legs.
(b) Some pretentious attempt at being as important as CL. Yet they don't insist it's used for Sky's coverage/MOTD or whatever. Is it used on foreign broadcasts? (not from my experience, but i've not seen the majority ofc)
Which are quite frankly rubbish reasons. Down with this sort of thing :thdn:
