They count the number of stops from when they get on, I'm guessing?
That was my friends first reason, doesn't hold up though as Albion pointed out. </BLOCKQUOTE>
so whats stopping them asking the driver or the person next to them? i fail to see how this can be "one of the stupidest things ever". </BLOCKQUOTE>
If they're going to ask the driver or the person next to them, why would they need to find a button as well. Surely the person next to them just presses it.
Because I haven't seen many stupider things which have made it onto real products.

If you're gonna ask the person next to you then get them to push the bell as well ! Anyway, any blind people out there that does want to experience pushing a button can now do so in safety

you obviously have not seen a guide dog lead a blind person onto a bus/tube, Sit patiently by his side untill they get to their stop, where it will just casually get up and lead the blind person off.
wonderful thing to witness. special little dogs

why the f**k should they get the person next to them to press the stop button when they've got two perfectly good arms to do it themselves? They may be blind but they're not complete invalids and im sure they'd like to maintain what independence they can. Jesus wept.
