Looks really good. If you blur the edges of the overlay a bit, it may meld into the sand/dirt better. I'd try a contrast layer to lower the high contrast within the face.

Great focal point and contrast, love the eyes, they stand out great.
When I first saw it, I thought the face was on a rock not sand, but I don't think that matters.
