Any hopes Martin Jol may have had of making a dignified exit out of Tottenham by joining Ajax have been thwarted by the Amsterdam club looking elsewhere for Henk Ten Cate's replacement.
Current Ajax manager Ten Cate is expected to finalise his move to Chelski later this week. According to The Daily Mirror, 'Jol put out feelers for the Ajax job', but the club have decided to appoint youth team boss Adrie Koster in a holding capacity before Marco van Basten becomes available next summer.
"We will find a solution for the next few months because our first choices are working at clubs or for a national team at the moment," said Ajax's technical director Martin van Geel.
