The thread for all the talk about the 2008 U17 tournament, to be held in Antalya, Turkey.

The qualification started about 2 weeks ago, and consists of 3 stages:

The Qualifying round is made up of 13 groups of 4 teams. Each group takes turns to play all their games, with the a group usually finished within a week - Then the 28 qualifiers from those groups go to the Elite round, (7 groups of 4 teams) - and then onto the main tournament in Turkey.

Group 3 and Group 5 have already finished -
Slovakia and Scotland qualifying from Group 3
Republic of Ireland and Denmark qualify from Group 5.

Group 8 has nearly finished, and Croatia and Hungary look to qualify from there.

The end of group 7 and Group 8 will take place tommorow.

Fixtures

Standings

For those who are looking out for England their first game is in late Oct, and they are in Group 11 along with Malta, Portugal and Estonia.

Final Tournament in May next year. Qualifiers basically non-stop till then.

U19 tournament basically the same format, so I guess this thread could be for that too.

You can't watch them that I know of, the UEFA website I linked above always has scores and the full teams fairly shortly after the games.

For the Chelsea guys you might be interested to know Milan Lalkovic played in all of Slovakia's games in the qualifiers (they won all of them and qualify for the 'Elite' stage).

He's a 14/15 year old striker for you, though he was given the 7 shirt of the Slovakia team so he might play RW for them.

Juni might have more info.
