Encountered this today while trying to buy a new fishing rod for my dad online. Tried to use my existing credit card, only for it to repeatedly fail. I knew the card was fine, then tried to order it by phone, and spoke to an advisor. They looked into problem, and responded:

"The new system, as advised by our merchant retailer, will not accept address that do not have a house number. Every new payment system has this same security procedure."

So, in the future, anyone without a house number will be screwed - and will result in all sorts of beaurocratic red tape surrounding changing of address. Problems with security whereby some companies will not deliver to different payment and shipping addresses, possibility of undeliverable mail etc.

This is unbelievable moronic. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Yeah but not an house number, loads of houses that are called a name then just street name straight after it, had to deal with loads like that when i worked in mapping department of local council.

if your house has a name then just make up the number like "0 House Name" etc.
