you used to work for a local council an dyour telling me that you believe that the post office assigns lot numbers.

oooookaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. </BLOCKQUOTE>

no the developers assign lot numbers (or a name sometimes) have to send the numbering application to the council and royal mail to be approved. So there are some instances where the developer has the houses named as opposed to lot numbers, particularly in prestige developments.

The number of your house is not actually used in the postage system until the postie is walking down the street in which you live.

First part of a "postcode" is the incoming postcode (where its sent to from where its been posted) and then the second part is the "outgoing" postcode which is where the post is then sent from the "incoming" location. This is usually around 10-15 houses maximum, although can be more in the instance of flats/apartments.

Further testing has proved that I can't actually buy anything using a Barclaycard. FFS this is ridiculous. Bye Bye Barclaycard.

I'm posh and live in a house with a number but no name.....
I also get downstair's post as the postie is an idle b'stard who finds walking down a flight of stairs too much for his poor little legs.
No wonder he needs 4 days of striking to recover.

guess what?
Ok then smarty pants - what happens when a new build pops up inbetween 2 existing houses like what I've seen recently?

What number is that house?

Farms don't have numbers, farmers are not posh.

Maybe not in Welshland, but I know quite a few very posh farmers here in sunny ingurland.
Although they do very little farming and let the farm managers and the like do the dirty work.
Riding horses, cleaning horses, buying horses and all other horsey things take up most of their time.

And not a number on their address between them.
(Except for their London pads obv.)
