PHOTO EFFECTS: Curling a Chain of Photos Around an Object.
This tutorial was created/written by one of our newer members, p?tr??k. Thanks p?tr??k! [righton]
Any questions about this tutorial can be addressed in the main Photoshop board.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, open several pics you want to use for the rings.
Now, make a new document then drag over all the pics and line them up. (see example #1)
Take all your pictures, link them, then press ctrl+e to merge them. Then press ctrl+j to copy that layer.
Next go to "filter" > "distort" > "spherize" and set the amount to 100%.
Now go to "filter" > "render" > "3D transform" then take the sphere tool and drag a circle around the image. Now use the rotate tool and transform it. (see example #2)
Next, erase the rendered sphere around the pictures. Then press ctrl+t to rotate the pictures around, and set opacity to 65%. (see example #3)
Next, take the layer of all the pictures that you copied earlier and apply "3d transform" in a different manner. (see example #4)
Erase the rendered sphere and press ctrl+t, right click and select "flip horizontally", then rotate it, and set opacity to 65%. (see example #5)
Now you have a top ring of pictures and a bottom ring. Take each ring and line it up until it looks right. (see example #6)
The extra rings are optional but to make these just repeat the above steps accordingly. (see example #7)
Finally, for the last step, open your person or object and cut it out - (you can do this either with the lasso tools, the eraser, magic wand, or the extract filter) - then place the person or object in between the top ring layers and the bottom layers. (see example #8)
Finally, you're done!
And, as I said before, this is just a rough draft so I encourage anybody who could improve on this technique.
