I'm not blaming anyone, I'm raging that a senior policeman is saying you shouldn't try to help anyone who's drowning. Have you got there now?
********. That's your starting point but then you've blamed the PCSP's. Here;

The fishermen didn't get him out until he'd already drowned. This may well have been avoided if the coppers had helped them out.

As for being baffled ffs it's the most obvious thing in world. He's covering his arse against people like you.

And as far as swimming, wading, floating around with their fat little bellies, can't help but feel your being pedantic there. Either way your gonna have to do some sweeping around to try and find the kid underwater, either way theres going to be some splashing around. Doesn't give any specific idea of depth, you never know they may just be surfacing for a bit of air before diving again, how are you supposed to know if you've just walked up on the seen.

Technically he didn't say they shouldn't try to help the kid, he said they shouldn't go diving into a pond to get him out. </BLOCKQUOTE>

He said they shouldn't enter the water. Everyone knows you don't go diving in. Except our trained lifesaver Eric ofc.

Having read the Guardian article I am indeed now blaming the PCSOs for being worse than useless, and the police for giving a uniform to people who are worse than useless. I think I'm justified.

'people like me'?

Just cause a lake is big enough overall doesn't mean that it doesn't have small enclosed areas and the anglers couldn't have ran over when they'd heard the kids go in.
I do actually know what a pond is. And not just from having been a landscape gardener. Small enclosed areas? Er, puddles?
