I scored the winner in the semi final of the north riding senior cup on a sunday last season, in the last minute of extra time. I felt crap for a week though, on account of me missing a one on one and a free header earlier in the game.

I don't beat myself up over my mistakes, but occasionally I'll beat myself off over them.

I used to but not these days. If it is done now and I can't change it then there is nothing that I can do about it now so there is no point in worrying. Just a waste of time.
Wouldn't say that I wouldn't look back though, got to try and learn from your mistakes and do better in the same situation next time.

I play basketball as well so I can definitely say I would and have beaten myself up about those sort of mistakes.

not sporting mistakes like that. playing in goal taught me that you have to forget about any tiny mistake. well not forget, but learn from and then dismiss. I've carried that attitude to my out field game too.

To be fair i kinda do it off the field as well, like if we run out of stock of something before the next delivery or make a mistake somewhere else that i should have known better about.
If its a first time thing i dont tend to dwell on it too much because well, really i didnt know better.
I just guess there are people who do and people who dont.

Don't tend to beat myself up but do get quite angry which serves to get my head together and I usually play better after that. Perhaps not the best trait for golf but it works ok for me.

Answer to the original question: yes, far too much. I can see the logical position of I'm only human, we're all fallible, etc. Cuts no ice with me though.
Self-flagellation ftw, metaphorically speaking.
