Besides Thuram, why is Deco up there? Thought he had a fairly poor season tbh.

Regardless of Deco and Thuram's somewhat baffling (though, as said, not in the least bit surprising) inclusions, what's the deal with Riquelme? He hasn't even played since returning from loan last season and hasn't set the world on fire on his occasional foray with the national team either. The lack of Fabregas, who to my considerable dismay has been absolutely phenomenal and the bedrock of Arsenal's recent resurgence, says it all really.

Why is Buffon on the list? Serie B strikers ain't that great 
And Thuram? Tevez? Henry? Lahm?
And no Totti or Fabregas? Why just not give the price to Platini then?

Having had a quick scan only Kaka, Ronaldo, Messi and Ruud should be listed as the finalist.
Kaka would be honored with the award.
