they didn't provide the service you paid extra, they offered to refund that money, yeah it's irritating but what more do you want?

| Want them to not guarantee delivery on a certain day if they're not going to do it?
It's fairly obvious that the majority of people who pay the, imo extortionate, extra price for certain day delivery are doing it because they need the item delivered on that particular day. To just not turn up with no prior notice or apology that they couldn't deliver on that day has meant my Mum using up a day of her holiday allowance to sit at home all day waiting for this 'guaranteed' delivery that has decided to just not turn up, rather than formally cancel it, or even attempt to contact the customer in any way about being unable to deliver.
Also my main point was the fact they claim it's a 'gesture of goodwill' from them? How does that work? If you paid £500 for a laptop and then they realised they don't have it in stock, is it a 'gesture of goodwill' to give the £500 back? ******** is it.

poyplemonkeys - I used to be a complaints manager, so here's what I'd do.
1. Nice and polite letter. You want them on your side.
2. Explain the situation as it happened from your point of view. Reasonable amount of detail, but really you should manage this on a maximum of 2 sides in A4. Type it up.
3. Set out exactly what you want in compensation. Have a think about this, as the more reasonable your demands, the more likely they are to be met. If a person was completely unreasonable, we were usually more likely to turn the complaint down.
4. If you have any good experiences with the company, tell them about this too in your letter and mention that you feel let down due to the lack of service on this occasion. You are a repeat buyer and they want to keep your trade.
5. Find out the chief exec's name and send it to him/her personally, marked Private and Confidential and send it Special Delivery. Chances are that your letter may be answered by the complaints department anyway but there is less chance of it being ignored and will be logged in more than one place.
6. Check the company complaints process, as they should list this somewhere reasonable prominent. Find out their required turn around times and make them stick to them. If they're late in replying, you have this as leverage too.
7. An offer is exactly that. If they do offer something, don't be afraid to turn it down if you don't think it represents the value of your inconvenience. However, be prepared for them to tell you to take a hike. This could happen too.
Good luck! It does sound annoying, and I think you have a case for renumeration. From my experience, I'd make an offer of £100 and a grovelling letter. You've been disadvantaged, but I can't see it being worth the cost of a laptop. Naturally this is just my opinion and I hope you do better than that!

Ignore Madisun, he's just dull. Look at his from, ffs.
You're obviously annoyed, so may I suggets you rework a quote from Chevy Chase?
"I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** he is."

I once wrote an angry letter when I didn't get my free stickers in my cereal. They promptly sent me the complete set of stickers so if you need any pointer, I'm your man.
