Why? </BLOCKQUOTE>
to be a ****?
( prob. due to a float in the till needing to be between two amounts and if change was given it would fall below that ammount and to be able to give the change would take it over the top end amount which is put in place as it is the minimum acceptable loss if it were robbed)

My dad nearly got thrown out of PC World 2 years ago for having a £100 note I think it was.. or it might of been £50.

Yeah someone once came in the pub buying a two drinks for about £4, and tried paying with a £50. I said I couldn't take it because a) there wasn't a slot for it in the till and b) I have no idea what a £50 should look like.
So she went around all the local shops in a huff trying to make change and found out she couldn't.
Needless to say she was a rich southerner
