I'll wait and see. I've only ever played Fallout 2, and this is clearly going to be a departure.

There is rumor that one day we would see Fallout MMOG. (Massively multiplayer online game)

Bethsoft owns rights to original Fallout series but someone else (cant remember who) owns rights to MMOG!

You two don't happen to frequent a site called NMA by any chance .

I am really looking forward to this game, I really liked both fallout 1 & 2 and from what I have read Bethesda are doing a really good job of creating the atmosphere from the first two, whilst bringing the gameplay into the 21st century. The NMA stuff is also providing some great entertainment whilst we wait for the game.

Interplay, who originally owned Fallout before selling it to Bethesda, still have the rights to and are developing the Fallout MMO. They did have a deadline to start development of it and a set target for funding, otherwise the rights to the MMO will revert to Bethesda as part of the sale agreement.

NMA?

The fact Fallout 3 will be a disappointment says more about how awesome 1 and 2 were, rather than 3 being intrinsically crap.

NMA=No-Mutants-Allowed which is a fallout fan site. It is heavily against fallout 3 being made and the impression you get when you start reading through their site and forums is that they simply want the first fallout made again in the exact same style of the first.

When fallout 3 was first announced their community was in an uproar, they were posting all over the place decrying Bethesda for meddling with their game and turning any information released about fallout 3 (both from Bethesda and any gaming journalists) into a huge negative and another reason not to buy it. They even started a flame war agains Jeff Green who is the editor for Games For Windows Magazine after he wrote an article about the game. He responded by posting o n the boards and it all spiraled from there

There was an article on Something Awful with some of the highlights you can read below, its pretty damn funny:

SA Weekend Web - NMA

yeah, i heard of that, but i have never posted there.

biggest things they need to get right in fallout 3:

- good dialogue options for PCs, good dialogue responses from NPCs. cannot stress this enough. even most games that think they're good at this end up being "listen to the witty NPC", then click "yes" or "no". i want to be able to give cool putdowns if i'm talking to a complete tithead, or offer to suck someone off if my character fancies them. etc.

- the karma system needs to be pretty much identical to fallout 2. everything you do should have a repercussion and there should be good, bad and indifferent outcomes to every quest and subgame, with no penalties in terms of xp, goodies or cash for being bad or indifferent.

- should be able to have a completely different set of characters that can finish the game. this is something that wasn't really addressed properly in fallout 2 imo, because diplosnipers were so far ahead of everything else. i want to be able to play something like a sneaking meleer with no personality but insane gambling and science skills, basically a typical autistic savant, and actually be able to finish the game somehow.

- there should be a list of outcomes for each character / locale even more wideranging than the ones in fallout 2.

Tried to avoid as much as possible about this to prevent me exploding either with rage or happiness.

Being multi-platorm does worry me.

Has anyone been able to get Fallout 2 to work in windowed mode? It's bullshit being forced to play it at some ridiculously low default resolution.

It is Bethesda, but the lead guy is the guy that did the dark brotherhood quests in Oblivion, which are widely regarded as the best quest lines in the game?

The multi-platform side of things is pretty much expected now, there is far too much money to be made in the console space.

From every interview or piece I have read the guys at Bethesda seem to have learned where they went wrong in oblivion and are making sure they don't repeat that here. SO they are having no level scaling, actions in game will close of whole questlines etc.

All in all I am still really looking forward to see what they come up with.
