Since then have got my MA, done a year into my PhD and already done a lot of teaching here at Sheffield. Next semester i've been offered a chance to help to run a new course the dept. is offering in my own specific research area so couldn't be happier. No qualms at all about deciding to work towards a career in academia | That's basically exactly what I want to do, except that I'm straying from history (my undergrad) towards international relations (which I'm doing as a masters). How old are you, if you mind me asking? And how quick is the transition from PhD to actual lecturing and teaching?

Always liked the aviation industry, anyone with similar interests as me? Being a pilot just seemed so cool to me as a child, and a very attractive career option since I was a kid. Hard to make the grade though. Psychology and social science is an enticing option as well.
But to come to think of it, I am only 18, still need to finish up my A levels before considering my real career, so no rush for me I guess.

Wanted to get into accountacy since I was about 7. 8 years on I still want to be one, but have aspirations to start my own business when I have made enough money to be comfortable through accounting.

Don't know really, just started a degree in business at uni.
Would love to own my own swanky bar/restaurant though.

I've just turned 25. Had a year off as I mentioned between BA and MA. I taught in my first year as a PhD student which is quite rare but I took the attitude that it could do no harm to ask and they were happy enough to allow me to teach
This all refers to seminar teaching btw - lectures are senior staff work, which is just as well since most of the time they're just as boring to prepare and convey as they are to listen to.

| You wanted to be an accountant at the age of 7? Could you even spell accountacy at 7 years old?

I originally wanted to be an illustrator - but didn't pursue it because it was really poorly paid back then.
My real vocation would have been a history teacher /lecturer. Realised that when I was about 30.
