I know some places in my town can have it, I guess I'll just wait and go without broadband for a while then. Thanks.

I have heard bad things about Sky Broadband but that was a good 12-18 months ago so I would hope any reliability or teething problems they had as a whole had been ironed out by now.
With the connection dropping out, are you sure it's not just the distance your PC is from the router?
Mine BT Broadband used to drop out all the time and I eventually found that moving the PC nearer the router solved the problem.

If you happen to know what you are doing and your two week 'training' period is up, try upgrade the firmware on the router to the latest Netgear version (V1.02.09).
Make sure that you know your username and password for your Sky broadband account before you do this though.
Since I've upgraded my firmware, it's been a lot more stable.

| what's the training period? :confusion:
I did a spot of googling, and it sounds like the issue with the connection dropping to 1.0Mpbs is due to electrical interference. Apparantly I should try changing the channel of the wireless. I can see loads of wireless networks, so this could make sense. It's nothing to do with distance from the router, it'll happen if I'm only a few feet away.
Anyone changed the channel before? Do I just need to go into the router configuration page and do it there? Will I need to change anything in my PCs wireless setup or will it not be affected? Don't want to go disconnecting myself completely now
