haha how can some of you actually call it a SERIOUS SECURITY BREACH? what do you honestly think we deserved? i'll be thrilled to hear what you think should happen to teams who have full scale pitch invasions rather than one lone nutter.

Guy runs onto the pitch, gets in a player's face and then runs back off without a steward in sight. You're right, that's brilliant security.

What Boban said.

It's the fact he got on so easily, apparently without the stewards even noticing and is even able to get back into the crowd without being noticed.

Something like that just shouldn't happen in top flight football.

However, that said, the fine was an acceptable one in proportion to other UEFA fines. That whole process is an utter joke these days.

You can't stop the intial action tbf. Lke most things if someone is determined to do it, then it'll happen. Short of putting fencing up, or having numerous stewards for each row, then it could always happen. The lack of action from the stewards is a bit tricky as well. Certainly when I was doing it for QPR we were told not to run after the guy, but ensure no one else got on the pitch. The police were supposed to deal with anyone who got onto the pitch, as at that point a law is being broken. Or something.

Ok so where were the police? Whoever it was that was meant to stop/get the guy clearly didn't do their job considering they had to wait for the guy to turn himself in.

Well that would be my question. At QPR it was treated as a bit of a joke because the police force there was minimal, and most of them were outside.

You'd expect there to be a much higher presence for Celtic though, so not sure where they had stationed them. Wherever it was, it was wrong.

I never said it was brilliant security. But I believe that to suggest that one person getting on the pitch deserves anything other than a fine is ridiculous. It's not like it's the first time someone has got on the pitch at a football match, far from it, yet I cannot remember an example of a team being punished by being forced to have an empty stadium, or even forefiting their points?

fwiw when the players went to celebrate, an ad board got knocked down and stewards were getting pushed to the floor by celebrating fans. the area from which the fan got on had been short of stewards as some had gone to help at the mentioned area. had the area been fully covered i don't think the fan would've got on.

i'm not condoning anything, i think we have got away massively from this, and i think uefa have gone over the top on dida. the guy could've had anything on him and could've been a serious threat to dida, that's what is worrying. however as i've said under normal circumstances i don't think he would've got near to the pitch.
